First of all everyone should beware that it is not a Hotel but just "Bread and Breakfast". More specifically, it is just a private apartment to stay in an old building. That means there is no reception, no any sign down the building telling you this is Vatican City Holidays. Second, do not be surprised when you find the room you stay is very different from the pictures on Booked.net. The third thing you should bear in mind is that their check in time is from 13:00-20:00. We arrived at Rome Fiumicino airport at about 21:00 pm due to flight delay. We tried to call the landlord immediately after we arrived, but nobody picked up the phone. More importantly, since we were the first time traveling in Rome, we were not familiar with the streets, it took us more than an hour to find Vatican City Holidays after we went our from the nearest Metro Station. The reason is like what I've said, there is no obvious sign indicating their "Bread and Breakfast", and since it is not a hotel, even you ask the local people in that area, they were still not able to give you the specify direction. So finally we spent our first night at another nearby hotel. The second day when we speak with the landlord he told us that he refused to refund for the first night because we were late. I think this is ridiculous because as a first time traveler to Rome, after arriving at the airport, you need to spend at least one hour to get to the city centre. From the Roma Termini Station you need to take the Metro for like 15 minutes and after you get out from the Metro, you still need to spend lots of time walking around and around to find this apartment. Roughly, you need to spend at least about 2-3 hours after you arrive at Rome Fiumicino airport, which means you must catch a train or flight that arrive before 17:00 pm in order not to miss the check in time. I think Booked.net also has the responsibility to tell all customers that it is not a hotel but just an apartment to stay.

At the bed & breakfast "Lofts in Rome" we met a very nice staff with a friendly attitude. We got an informal feeling that was good. We rented a 4 bed room for myself and my elderly parents for a Rome weekend celebrating my father turning 60. My fiancee and our son stayed at home, but they could have easily stayed in our room as well because it was so big. My sister, her husband and their daughter stayed at another hotel, but could visit our room for a short rest on the afternoon after after our walks around Rome. The main reason we chose the bed & breakfast Lofts in Rome was the location. You can walk to all the main attractions such as Collosseum, Forum Romanum and The Vatican/St Peters Church. It is also very near Trastevere were you find many genuine Italian restaurants, and also near the area around Patheon and piazza Navona were you find small shops and art galleries. You can also walk to the shopping area around Fontana di Trevi and Via del Corso. The breakfast was included and served at 8.30. We got a plate with buns, a sandwich and a croissant with juice, fruit and tea/coffee. We could use the coffee machine whenever we wanted during the day. It was an ok breakfast, some things on the plate was a little sweet for our taste, (we are Swedish and not used to eat sweets for breakfast, but we enjoyed the sandwich and fruits so it was ok!) The room was clean and nice and had a small pentry kitchen with possibility to cook your own dinner. We only used it to make tea and store some food we bought to bring with us for lunch to save money. It also had a washing machine but we did not use it. Lofts in Rome is a good budget/family alternative and the location was very good if you are interested to reach all attractions by walking around! :)

The location is excellent, literally by Castel Sant'Angelo with 2minutes' walk to Piazza Cavour with many busses. It's a small family-owned business, good size rooms with comfortable beds and a desk, and a small fridge/minibar. Big bathroom with shower niche (which was not too large but fine for us). The rooms were cleaned every day. The owner Stefano was extremely nice, helpful and friendly, and so she was one of the breakfast ladies. The other reception staff were friendly and helpful too. The room has a safe which was great. We didn't hear any noise from the other rooms but we could hear the reception if they spoke loudly on the phone, but it wasn't a problem. The hotel entrance is within a courtyard that is locked at night and on Sundays, but you just ring the bell and they will open the gate + the front door for you. Two pieces of advice: Take the sti Shuttle Bus from Fiumincino airport instead of the train to Termini/Trastevere. The Shuttle Bus stops right by PiazzaCavour, a 2 minute walk from the hotel and takes some 50 minutes. Secondly, note that Google maps has the wrong location of this address -it is on the upper right side of the pentagon that is Piazza Adriana, not on the left side as Google says! There is a sign on the sidewalk and you will find the hotel in the middle entrance of what looks like (andis) a large apartment building. All in all we thought it was great value for money and would stay there again in a heartbeat.
